Chinese Mainland Citizens Must Apply for a UK Visa in Advance

Since China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau) is not currently included in the UK’s visa exemption program, mainland Chinese residents must obtain a visa before traveling to the UK. The most common UK visa types include tourist visas, business visas, and family visit visas.

I. Visa Types: Tourist Visa / Business Visa

Validity Period: Generally, 2 years multiple-entry, with options to apply for 5-year or 10-year multiple-entry visas

Maximum Stay: Determined by the consulate

Visa Format: Sticker Visa (Affixed to the passport)

II. Basic Required Documents

1.New and old passports (valid for at least 6 months beyond the departure date)

2.National ID card

3.Household registration book

4.Marriage certificate (if applicable)

5.Application form

6.Proof of assets and income

III. Biometric Appointment

Applicants must schedule a fingerprint appointment at the nearest UK visa application center.

IV. Important Notes

Applicants under 18 are not recommended to apply for a tourist visa alone. If applying together with an adult, the minor’s visa will be linked to the accompanying adult’s passport number. Entry and exit must be made together with the linked adult, subject to actual immigration regulations.
